MY STORY

The Owner
My name is Aisha and I have been designing crochet wear for 20+
years.  My passion for crocheting started when I was just 14 years
of age. Sitting side by side with my mother, she taught me the
basics and how to crochet hats. My excitement for working with
colorful yarns evolved and I began making scarves and baby
blankets. Following my teenage years, I took a break from
crocheting to focus on obtaining a degree and later started a
family of my own.  During my mid-twenties, I picked up
the hook and yarn and rekindled my crochet hobby. One day I
made a bathing suit for a friend and it was at that time I realized
how much I enjoyed making clothing and seeing my creation come
to life.

I would crochet for hours into the night making all types of items
including full outfits, swimwear, beach & resort wear, hats,
scarves, etc.

Today, I am a proud mother, a wife, and an entrepreneur. Since officially starting my entrepreneurial career in
2015, I have had my work featured in many magazines like Crochet Savvy, VoyageAtl, and DY Magazine out
of my Hometown of Philadelphia, PA.   
 
I’ve also been fortunate to participate in many fashion shows premiering my designs which allowed me to
elevate my work with each show.  Over the years, I collaborated with brands such as Egyptian Royalty,
Fashion Show by the Pool 2017, Strands (2018 thru 2023), A Fiber Arts Fashion Show, and Wearing
Womanhood Showcase (2019 thru 2021).
 
The Brand 
My design label, CREATTIE-ANN DESIGNS, is named after both of my beloved grandmothers. My
mother's mother, Mrs. Creattie, and my father’s mother, Mrs. Ann. They were warm, loving, and beautiful souls
who played an integral role in my life and I've missed them dearly. We had such a strong bond and naming my brand after they allow me to keep their memories alive. I have so much love and respect for my ancestors. I
am so GRATEFUL.

CREATTIE-ANN DESIGNS is a small business formed from my passion for crocheting. What started
as a humble hobby is now a collection of uniquely hand-crafted swimwear, beach & resort wear products,
along with a variety of handmade jewelry that is all made with passion & love.
When designing my collections, I need to use all-natural fibers; my favorite is cotton threads/yarns because it works best in water and is the easiest to care for. All of my creations are handmade
and it's always been a goal of mine to design high-quality one-of-a-kind items. I also enjoy incorporating a
multitude of colors, hues, and textures into my designs.
 
The vision of my collections is inclusive with a focus on women of all shapes, sizes, and colors, to wear uniquely made pieces that’ll make them feel sexy, beautiful, and confident. Because I cater to women of all sizes, many of my pieces are tailored based on individual requests. 
Over the years, I've come to realize crocheting is more than just a hobby. It's a skill that has taught me patience and humility, it brings me solace and allows my mind to venture into the realm of creativity to produce

great products.  Because of this, I am eternally grateful to my mother for teaching me at such an early age and
to everyone who supported me along my journey.
